Program to support applied research and innovation THETA 2
The focus of the program is relatively broad and affects all areas of dealing with all relevant types of energy in the relevant sectors, including sector coupling and interdisciplinary aspects.
Subprogramme 1: Research in the public interest
The projects should be focused on
- the basic and interconnected trends in energy, which are decarbonization, decentralization, digitalization and democratization, from the point of view of public interest
- interdisciplinary technical areas, i.e. interaction and connection of energy with other sectors
Sub-programme 2: Energy technologies for competitiveness
The subprogramme is focused on the preparation of technologies and solutions with quick application in practice. Support will go to
- technologies and technological solutions contributing to the fulfillment of the climate-energy and environmental goals of the Czech Republic
- new and traditional areas in which research and development in the Czech Republic is already at the European and world level or can significantly benefit from competitive advantages
Sub-programme 3: Technology to ensure the long-term sustainability of the energy industry
The program supports
- projects preparing technologies and solutions that are at a lower level of technological readiness (TRL, typically 3 to 5) at the time of project design
- projects that are intended to support new solutions in industrial innovation that can (e.g.) fulfill the climate, energy and environmental goals of the Czech Republic or support energy security, ensure acceptable energy prices in the medium to long term

- The competition period starts on ends on 23.10.2024
- Possible applicants: research organization or business entities
- Announcement of results: until 31.5.2025
